Word of Life

Labor to enter God’s rest

Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left [us] of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard [it]. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. Heb 4:1-3 KJV

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God [did] from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. Heb 4:9-11 KJV

In the new testament, when you get born again it means you are simply resting and trusting in what God has done through the Lord Jesus Christ. You now have a relationship with God; Father son relationship, and as a father he has provided everything that you will ever need through the finished work of the cross. As born again children of God, the bible calls us new creation. And in our new creation spirits God has imparted all the healing, blessings, prosperity, power, supplies and everything we will ever need. We stop trying to make God do something for us; we stop trying to get God to bless us, favor us, heal us, prosper us etc. But instead we rest in the truth that God, through Jesus Christ has already supplied everything.

When you understand this rest properly, you understand it takes effort to rest according to the scriptures above. You labor to rest. When the challenges of life come, it takes effort for you to stay in the truth of God’s word and not be moved. God has done everything for you, he has provided everything you will ever need. Just reach out and appropriate it by faith. Study the word to know what the father has already done for you and receive it. Labor to rest, it takes effort to rest in the finished work of Christ.

Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly [places] in Christ: Eph 1:3 KJV

His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 2 Pet 1:3 NIV

[And I pray] that the participation in and sharing of your faith may produce and promote full recognition and appreciation and understanding and precise knowledge of every good [thing] that is ours in [our identification with] Christ Jesus [and unto His glory]. Phm 1:6 AMP
